Arian Foster Knew It Was Time To Retire When He Just Wanted To Go Home and Read His Space Book in the Middle of an NFL Game
Pretty much everyone has had days on the job where all you think about is getting home to watch a TV show, read a book or just do anything other than be at work. I'd guess that's how much of the American public makes it through a lot of days. But not too many people have had that happen and then immediately go into their boss's office to turn in their two weeks' notice.
If you find yourself thinking about the next chapter of your space book while you're at work and your job involves eluding some of the largest men on the planet who are trying to hurt you, however, it's probably a pretty good decision to call it quits ASAP. It's great to read and be interested in other things, but professional football is something where you want to be pretty locked in while you're on the clock.
I don't know what this does to Arian's status as a Football Guy, but it cements him as a Hall of Fame Space Guy. An All-Pro willing to quit playing in the NFL because he's so into reading about the cosmos is Neil deGrasse Tyson's wet dream.
I am glad it was made abundantly clear to Arian when it was time to hang it up. That must have been an incredible book.
