Friday Night Lights Is Getting A Reboot And Frankly I Don't Think We Need It

Before we start I'm a firm believer the movie is better than the show. FNL is if you ask me the best football movie ever made. And after watching scenes like this ... I'm not sure how anyone disagrees.

Just a fucking gem of a scene. I used to listen to it before I walked out on the field for every college game I played. Unreal.

Anyway, even with the movie being better than the tv show, the tv show is damn good. I mean damn good. And I refused to watch the show live because I was so worried they were going to mess up the legacy of the movie, but after much convincing and it being right there for me on Netflix I loaded it up and boy did it deliver. The relationships are terrific, Coach Taylor gets 5 seasons of showcasing everything he's about instead of just two hours which makes you like him more than Gary Gaines, the storylines aren't massively farfetched. In it's essence it's about family and football and it worked well. Riggins and Saracen are all time characters along with Coach Taylor and Vince Howard.

Don't get me wrong it wasn't a perfect show. Season 2 wrapping up the way it did because of the writer's strike was bad and the assualt storylines in there aren't terrific, and overall every-time Jason Street was on the screen I wanted to fast forward, but those small blemishes aren't enough to overpower how good it was overall. If you haven't seen it I strongly suggest doing a watch.

Call me crazy but I feel like we don't need a reboot. The movie is amazing and the show was terrific, why now do we need a third version that could tarnish the legacy? I'm against this very much ... but with that said ... I'll give the first season a run just to make sure.

Final thought ... give my guy Mark Paul Gosselar aka Zack Morris a run as a the coach. He can do it.

Bonus .. check out this week's snake draft where FNL was an early pick.
