Join The Mark Titus Show "When Will Kyle Neptune Be Fired?" Contest Here!
I blogged yesterday the newest episode of the Mark Titus Show in which we talk about all of the biggest news stories in the College Basketball World from the previous weekend, but one thing I didn't touch on and wanted to get it's own solo spot was this pool we are running for when Villanova's coach Kyle Neptune will be fired. The fact of the matter is that when Jay Wright stepped down, most people with brains knew that Villanova would inevitably have to take at least a slight step back.
But what no one forecasted was that Kyle Neptune would miss the NCAA Tournament in each of his first two seasons. And now, heading into a tournament or bust year, in which his back is completely against the wall and his ass is completely on the hot seat, he's turned in embarrassing losses to Columbia and St. Joseph's, as well as dropping one to unranked Virginia all in the first 5 games of the season. And now it's pretty evident: this will be Kyle Neptune's last season as the head coach of the Villanova Wildcats, and the only question is whether they allow him to finish out the season or if they get a jumpstart on the coaching candidate pool and recruiting with a new coach before the year ends. Therefore, we decided on the show to start a pool in which whoever gets closest on the date of firing wins. Here's our answers (listen to the show to hear our reasoning on these specific dates):
Now, lots of people chimed in saying how while these dates all make sense, the problem is that Villanova currently has no Athletic Director to make the firing. Well folks, fast forward about 5 hours and look what we have here:
"And with my first order of business, we will be making Villanova Basketball Great Again. Coach Neptune, you're fired"
Anyways, I wanted to give you all a quick chance to join in on the pool. Here's a Google Form that you can fill out to submit your entry. I don't know what the winner will get outside of bragging rights and a shoutout on the show, but maybe I can scrounge up a couple million bucks to pay the winner too?
Entries are due by Friday to be counted in the pool.
