If Curt Cignetti Is Smart, Indiana Will Forfeit Against Ohio State On Saturday

Listen, before you all jump down my throat, let me just say a couple things. The first of which is that no one wants the Indiana Hoosiers to make the College Football Playoff more than me. And it's not because of Big Ten Pride or anything. And it's not because I want to see fresh faces in the playoff. And it's not because I want to see a state that has literally nothing to be proud of to finally get to celebrate something. The reason I want the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff so badly is because the more bad teams that make the field, the easier path we have to win a National Championship. So yeah, I want them all in. Put the Indianas, BYUs, SMUs, and Tulanes of the world into the playoff....easier on the Buckeyes.

Anyways, point of the blog: I have some free advice, take it or leave it, to Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers....and that's that you should forfeit the game against Ohio State on Saturday.

Now, before everyone immediately jumps to the conclusion that I'm stupid or worse, trolling, please just listen first. Because the fact of the matter is that this is actually a very intelligent idea. So I will type slowly and use small words as I explain this, making sure that ALL of the good people of Indiana understand what I'm saying. Because the fact of the matter is, forfeiting the game on Saturday is the only way to guarantee Indiana a spot in the college football playoff. And honestly, I think they would jump in the rankings if they do...

Right now, the way I see it, Indiana has two options:

Option 1: Play the game on the field. They can go to Columbus on Saturday and play Ohio State, running the risk of what everyone knows is about to happen and that is the Buckeyes boat race the Hoosiers by a score of 41-10. And now the committee is in a tough spot. Do they place an 11-1 Indiana team in the playoff, who got smack in their only game against a team with a pulse? Or do they put in a 10-2 Georgia/Alabama/Ole Miss/Tennessee team that would be favored against them? It's essentially a coin flips chance and it's in the hands of the committee.

Option 2: Forfeit the game.

Do you know what happens if a college football team forfeits a game? NCAA rules say it goes down as a 1-0 loss. And now Indiana's resume is 11-1 with their only loss of the season in a 1 point game....on the road...to the best team in the country. They get in 100x out of 100 with that resume, and honestly, how don't they jump Penn State in the rankings? Their solo losses are to the same team and Indianas is by less points and on the road. And now all of a sudden, Indiana is the 5 seed...hosting the 12 seed....to play the overrated 4 seed. They might just find themselves in the semifinals of the college football playoff. Or they can play the game and risk playing in the Idaho Potato Tax Slayer Bowl. The choice is theirs.
