Navy Dropped Their Army Navy Uniforms And Meh

Ok listen, I am going to be a big J journalist here and be objective.

I am happy that navy decided to finally pay homage to their branch's history and model their uniform for the Army/navy game after a decorated unit. The "Jolly Rogers" have a rich history for nearly a century and those brave men should be celebrated. It's hard to make a bad video when you have fighter jets.

That said, the uniforms overall are...meh.

This is not bad and certainly a step in the right direction but as I ask around the reaction is mostly underwhelming. Let's be clear, this is largely on Under Armor's shoulders. Their obsession with airbrushing on helmets is weird at this point and the helmet is really where they lost me with this whole uniform. It's too busy and the airbrush makes it look cheap.

There is something else that is sticking out to me and I can't quite put my finger on it...

Oh that's right, Army already used the skull and crossbones this season for the game against the community college and even have a trademarked alternate logo featuring that artwork. Not to mention, it is part of a culture and not a one-off. We don't own "skull and crossbones" but we've made it clear, it's part of our fabric.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

There you have it, the uniform matchup is set.
