Ringo Starr Says He Will Be Played By Barry Keoghan In The FOUR Upcoming Beatles Movies
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ringo Starr confirmed the rumors that Barry Keoghan will be playing the Beatles drummer in the FOUR upcoming biopics about the band, and in perfect Ringo fashion, added, "I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many."
In case you don't remember/haven't heard, Sam Mendes (1917, Skyfall, Jarhead, Road to Perdition) is making four interconnected Beatles biopics about each member - some have speculated that it'll be about the same event from four different perspectives, Rashomon-style - and they're all releasing theatrically in 2027 as of right now.
If Ringo really is confirming Barry Keoghan's casting there, in my mind it kinda confirms this rumor/report about who was being eyed for the rest of the band....
I think I would've preferred four unknown actors, because I think it’s kinda hard to see a super famous actor as another super famous face - but I all of those choices are super talented so I'm sure there's some great potential there. I can already see why they cast Keoghan as the goofy/fun-loving Beatle, for example, with the comedic chops he's shown thus far (and the nose). It's just a matter of whether or not this crazy four-film concept can actually be pulled off. I've got faith it'll be cool, though.
If it isn't, and the whole project flops - we'll always have documentaries like 'Get Back' (which is an annual end-of-November watch for me at this point), and new ones are still coming out constantly. There's even a Scorsese-produced one called Beatles '64 dropping on Friday!
P.S. Here's a picture of me from Abbey Road last month….
Locals fucking hate that crosswalk. I loved it tho. Great stuff.
