I Hate To Start The Holiday Season With Negativity, But It's Time For Indiana To Fire Mike Woodson
This is not an overreaction to watching the Indiana Hoosiers play the worst basketball game I've ever seen, it's time to fire Mike Woodson. I'm going to try and keep this short, because if I start rattling off everything wrong with Indiana basketball this will come off looking like a deranged unibomber manifesto. Plus, with Thanksgiving tomorrow, I don't want to start off the holiday season by putting negativity out into the world, but after watching the pathetic display of what I think was supposed to be basketball by the Indiana Hoosiers, I can't stay quiet. I have to say it, Mike Woodson is a bad coach, and needs to go.
That game vs Louisville might have set the entire sport of basketball back 100 years it was such a disgusting display. Now here comes the "classic IU fan" crowd claiming the second times get tough, Indiana fans overreact by trying to run their coach out of town because they aren't Bobby Knight. Last season I tried to be a positive voice for the Hoosiers. Despite Woodson's team not defending the perimeter and rebounding, I said cut him some slack, this roster isn't the best constructed roster (wonder whose fault that is?) but let's have Woodson get some talent and see what he does. Well, Woodson has one of the most talented team's in the Big 10, and the team still can't defend the perimeter or rebound the basketball. It's about effort. That's coaching. That's on Woodson. Defending him now is just living in denial. (sorry, WBR)
After looking like dog water against UNC Greensboro you'd think Indiana would come out ready to play in this game, but NOPE. Exactly what you could expect from a Woodson team on a neutral court. At least you can somewhat stomach getting dominated by Auburn and UConn because they are good teams, but Louisville? It reminded me of losing to Nebraska by 30 in the Big 10 tourney. Another team that can shoot the 3 and created a nightmare for Indiana's lack of perimeter defense and effort. Same story, different season.
There is a lot of season left, this Indiana team definitely has time to improve, but am I going to get my hopes up? Not a chance. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. The only hope is Indiana "out talenting" opponents with their selfish 1v1 style of basketball, because this group of individuals has no idea what it means to be a team, and that's on the coach.
Oh well, Football School. (Cignetti shirts and the entire Barstool store will be 20% off starting at 8pm on Thanksgiving and lasting through Cyber Monday)
