Urban Meyer Is NOT Coming Back To Coach At Ohio State (Source: Urban Meyer)

Well, this makes me more sad than I thought it would. Immediately after The Game, I couldn't speak without my eyes getting misty, but the one thing I was able to mutter out in my postgame video from the stands of Ohio Stadium was that we needed one man back in the Scarlet and Grey to fix this problem we have dug ourselves into: Urban Meyer. He's 7-0 against Michigan, and while it doesn't seem like there's anything on planet Earth that could flip the tide of this rivalry right now, let alone make me happy…..Urban coming back to Ohio State would change all of that immediately. I don't know how to explain it, but losing 4 in a row and getting embarrassed at home would feel like a million years ago if the general was back in command. I don't think we'd lose a single recruit. In fact, I think our class and portal finds (which have been great) would get even better. People say that Urban can't handle this new age of college football, and I say bullshit. He is a fucking winner. He came to Ohio State my freshman year, and he's honestly done more for me in life than any man on planet Earth other than my Father. He's my answer for who would you have a beer with, who would you be on a deserted island with, and who would you trust with you life? I fucking love Urban Meyer. And while I knew it was a long shot, I did think there was a 1% chance he'd come back and save this program.

And then yesterday, Jay Crawford reported that not only was there a chance, Urban was both interested AND willing.

Notice that I didn't tweet about it, because I didn't want to get crushed again. I was hoping the next news we saw would be from an ESPN reporter. Instead, the next news we saw was from Urban Meyer himself. And the news that Urban reported is that he is done coaching, and he is especially not coaching at Ohio State. He says Ryan Day and his staff have his full support, and he's not coming back. And one thing we all know about Urban is that he doesn't lie, so I must take what he says here and believe him. Our lord and savior is going to stay in the booth.

I'm going to release a statement on behalf of Ohio's Tate after the bracket come out, and that will include how we are moving forward with Ryan Day. I honestly thing he's safe whether we win the National Championship or lose the first game at home. It won't be Ohio State making the move away from Ryan Day, but I do think the door is there for Ryan Day to move away from Ohio State. He is absolutely miserable. His family is worse than that. And that was evident as they all cried at the end of the Michigan game this season, BEFORE IT WAS EVEN OVER. And remember, he's not an Ohio guy. He was more so in the right place at the right time to take over for Urban…and now he's finding out how not fun this job is if you truly don't live and love it. It'd be one thing if he was from Cleveland and needed to find a way to beat Michigan. He's from New Hampshire. At some point he might just say, what the fuck am I obsessing over this for? I can go be a coach in the NFL, spend less time on it, have less stress, and get the fuck outta here.

**Update: former players are chiming in and agree with the masses that Urban can't do this new age of College Football, but not because he doesn't want to, because the players couldn't deal with his brutal honesty.
