A Proposal In NYC Was Ruined By A Goddamn Rat
NY Post- In New York City, nothing says romance like rodents.
The Big Apple is chock full of wild things, from party animals to top dogs, but there’s no bigger beast in the city than rats.
And now, the vermin is going viral for invading a lovey-dovey display that took place in Midtown Manhattan on Thursday night.
In a video shared by content creator, @PaperMiishe, a man was seen getting down on bended knee to propose to his ladylove outside 1221 Avenue of the Americas, right by Rockefeller Center.
The area was decked out with decorations for the holidays, including glittering lights and a large Christmas tree — from which a rat came scurrying partway through the proposal.
“If that was me the rat would have ruined the whole proposal because I would have ran my ass down the block,” wisecracked a creeped-out commenter beneath a clip of a four-legged, fuzzy pest photobombing the romantic moment.
“The rat is so New York,” quipped another.
What a scene. Just so perfectly New York City. On a day when you are supposed to have one of the most memorable moments of your life, a fucking rat comes running at you. Only in New York City baby. Of all the things to go wrong in a photo shoot, I would put not being able to open the ring box, closing your eyes for the photo, and stuttering as less disastrous then a fucking rat running by this photo op. Just a DISASTER.
There is an upside to this whole fiasco though, and that's the boyfriend in this photo being able to bounce back after the rat runs by. I imagine the girl was freaking out, rightfully so, and I would have been RATTLED as well. For those of you who haven't done it, proposing is super stressful. To that point it's the biggest day of your life, you are sweating bullets, you have a massive rock in your pocket you just spent a boatload on, and above all there's something in dark places you don't talk about it you are making sure she says yes and worried if she doesn't. This guy shakes off a rat running by and still gets her to say yes without missing a beat. He's a hero. Bravo to him for battling adversity and congrats to the happy couple.
