Jameis Winston Threw Two More Interceptions (9 Picks In 5 Games) As The Steelers Easily Handled The Browns

I really don't have much to say differently about this 3-10 Browns team than I had to say last week when they fell to 3-9. This team stinks. Our kicker is trash. Our special teams coordinator needs fired. And we absolutely cannot get rid of Kevin Stefanski despite perhaps us finishing with the worst record in football. But what I am going to do is that I'm going to take this moment and discuss something that people within our office have been talking about lately: is Jameis the QB for the Browns next year? People around here love him. Our fan base loves him. He's so much fun to cheer for. But can we be honest with each other for a second? He stinks at quarterback. He cannot be a QB1 for a team that is taking themselves seriously. And today proved that even further. So while I didn't need today to add to the evidence folder to show why the answer is No.....I want to be very clear: the answer is an emphatic NO, Jameis is nothing more than a fun watch as we lose out the rest of the year.

The first problem is that it will be very, very expensive for anyone other than Deshaun Watson to be the quarterback next year. Like it or not, we did give him a 5-year, $230,000,000 guaranteed contract. He still has two years left on that deal, and the cap hit would be $73,000,000 if he's not on our roster. So what are we doing to do? Get rid of him and $73,000,000 to have......this guy be our quarterback?

Don't get me wrong. He's an elite speech giver. But that's all he's elite at. Wait, he's also elite at giving the football to the other teams. This week he threw 2 interceptions. Last week he threw 3. The week before that he threw one. And two weeks before that he threw 3 more. Listen, I like Jameis for the vibes. I like Jameis ability to throw it down field and make plays. But if we choose to pay $73,000,000 to cut Deshaun so we can start a motivational speaker with a turnover problem, I'm out. I don't know what the answer is, but I know it's not that.

**I think Deshaun is back. I can't believe I'm saying it, but I think Deshaun is back. And that puts us in a tough spot, because we're either going to lose with him, or we're certainly going to lose without him. And I think the idea is that we need to, once again, try and keep him healthy and tell ourselves he might get back to Texans form. It's better than paying $73,000,000 for him not to play. (I think?)
