#KARMA The Barstool Chicago Tech Team Won Their Free $25,000 Draft Kings Stoolvivor Bet Yesterday

I always laugh at people who don't believe in karma. They scoff at you for the being the crazy one, then go right back to burying their heads in the sand, while the universe continues to balance itself out. Over and over.

In a parable straight out of a NY Times best seller's children's book, took an opportunity (blessing) of some people's lifetimes, and took advantage of it.

I realize that $25,000 isn't worth what it used to be because our government prints more and more monopoly money. And that watching Portnoy fire off 7 figure bets a couple times a year makes it seem like chump change by comparison. But to some people out there, $25,000 is a life-changing amount of money. To most of us, it's at least enough to get our asses out of bed and to the airport on time for. Not naming anyone in particular. Just saying.

Real talk, I love Ben Mintz. He was one of the first "non-Chicago" people I met when the big migration back to Chicago took place. He moved out here like a year before Dan and the rest of them came it felt like, and he couldn't have been more friendly and outgoing. He has a heart of gold, and not a bad bone in his body. He's just "thick", as my mom would politely say. He means well, he's just his own worst enemy sometimes. He's like the human embodiment of "Murphy's Law". So leave it up to Dave to stumble across him on the internet and recruit him to his modern day version of Barnum and Bailey's circus.

As much as I want to say he doesn't deserve a lot of the shit he gets, doing things like blowing an opportunity some people would kill for, (repeatedly), because you can't be responsible, is hard to defend.

So when I saw this news break- that 5 of the hardest working, most unrecognized, best people at the company won this Tampa Bay -6.5 Draft Kings Survivor Pool bet yesterday, I said "of course they did". Coming off of Mintz' fuck up 7 days ago, I wish there was action that we could have taken on odds of them winning whatever their bet was. I am a fucking moron for not putting a 2nd mortage down, tailing them on the Bucs after seeing that's who they took. We all are.

Because one way or another, karma always makes itself known. It usually takes longer than 7 days. But there's no rhyme or reason. The universe wanted us all to know, if we aren't fuck ups, and respect blessings sent our way, good things happen.

I hope these guys all take their 5k and turn it into 10 next weekend.
