Jeremy Allen White Will Play Jabba The Hutt's Son, Rotta The Hutt, In 'The Mandalorian & Grogu' (Not Kidding)

Folks I am coming to you live with the most bizarre news I've read all week - Jeremy Allen White has reportedly joined the cast of 'The Mandalorian & Grogu' as Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba the Hutt. Yes, seriously.

Rotta the Hutt is a character who actually debuted in the earliest possible version of George Lucas/Dave Filoni's 'Clone Wars' (the theatrically released movie that proceeded the series in 2008) as an infant who was kidnapped by Asajj Ventress and Count Dooku. He was kinda the original Baby Yo, as a Baby Hutt. Similar to 'The Mandalorian', the movie focuses on the journey to rescue that baby and bring him back to his family, zeroing in on Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka's attempt to do so - but Rotta hasn't really had much follow up story-wise since! I think he maybe appeared in 1-2 episodes of 'The Clone Wars' after that, but he certainly hasn't been a big name lingering around Star Wars fans' minds or anything.

I assume based on the time period of 'The Mandalorian & Grogu' - set somewhere around 25 years after the events of The Clone Wars - that Rotta is now old enough to have taken some kind of control over the Hutt Cartel, and that Din Djarin and Grogu are gonna be dealing with some gangsters in this movie. And as bizarre as the casting of Jeremy Allen White as a Hutt feels, the casting of Jeremy Allen White as a seedy scumbag gangster clicks perfectly in my brain, and ultimately - that's what the Hutts are. Seedy scumbag gangsters. Plus, it's not like they're throwing cousin in the damn suit - it's just a voice role! So I say fuck it - maybe this is gonna work; I'm in. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have earned my trust at this point.

Hell - I didn't think Vin Diesel as a tree and Bradley Cooper as a talking space raccoon would work and look how that turned out. Hopefully we get an official teaser trailer for this movie soon. I'm fiending for more Grogu in my life.
