Surviving Barstool S4 Ep. 7 | Best Shot Wins The GameWATCH NOW

Juan Soto Leaving The Yankees Makes A Lot More Sense After Hearing He Hasn't Spoken To Any Of His Ex-Teammates Since The World Series Ended

Damn, I didn't realize it was like THAT in the Bronx. I get trying to give a guy going through a very public high stakes negotiation some space and the Yankees have long been known to be the strictly business team of Major League Baseball. But for 24 people to flat out ignore someone that played his ass off alongside you during the grind of a baseball season and helped lead you to the World Series is some cold blooded shit. Especially with the way Game 5 infamously ended Soto's pursuit of another title.

I mean I'm much closer to the Juan Lagares of Barstool than the Juan Soto of Barstool. But I would hope at least one of my coworkers checked in on me at some point just to see how things were going over the last two months. It doesn't have to be about contract negotiations or anything work related either. Simply someone asking what I'm doing for Christmas this year or saying congrats that my favorite baseball team is now a major player in the sport thanks to their bazillionaire owner that just signed a generational player at the age of 26.

It's not like Soto is known as some lousy teammate either considering he went out to LA to watch his former teammates play in the World Series for the Dodgers.

Then again, the Yankees have always prided themselves as being the cold, corporate, monolith of professional sports (I think I used monolith right). If making players shave their facial hair and give free agents the silent treatment until they re-sign is part of their franchise's strategy, they shouldn't change it for just one player. I personally would rather go somewhere with a little more warmth and family vibe that the Cohen's seem to bring, but that's just my big ol' softie ass. I suppose Steve Cohen's $800 million may have a little something to do with Soto coming to the Mets. But it's probably just all the love he felt from the Mets during negotiations, Francisco Lindor flying to LA to meet him, and the bright future that appears in Queens following that magical OMG season. Yeah, that's it.

I also love to see Juan Soto being so gracious to Yankees fans despite all the nasty stuff they have said about him over the last few days, including the replies to the tweet at the top of this blog. He is truly everything you want in a superstar and I look forward to seeing him play in Queens for the next decade and a half.
