Jameis Threw 3 Picks (And Got Benched), The Browns Turned The Ball Over 6 Times, And Nick Chubb Broke His Foot In Cleveland's Loss To The Chiefs
Look, I'm not going to act like I know everything, but one thing I do know is that the Browns fucking suck. So when I rolled into the Gambling Cave this afternoon and the popular play was Cleveland +4.5, I hated to break it to everyone, but there was simply no chance. I don't care how much the line stunk, the Browns stink even more. And while the talent discrepancy from the two teams alone is one thing, my reasoning as a whole was three fold:
1. Jameis Winston throws the ball to the other team more than his own. Yes he gives great pregame speeches. Yes he's fun to watch. But to the people saying he should be our QB1 at the start of next season, you are fucking clueless. The man came into this game having thrown 6 picks in his last 3 games, and he blew that average out of the water this afternoon with 3 more. To the point where the Browns had to fucking bench the guy and bring in DTR.....who then threw a pick as well. Tough day in the turnover differential department this afternoon for Cleveland.
2. The Browns are trying to lose. Did people forget that? They're 3-10.....which Nikki Smokes thought meant we were picking at the top of next years draft. Uhhh, there were EIGHT teams coming into this afternoon with 3 wins or less. It's more competitive at the bottom of the standings right now than the top. If we don't lose out, we might be picking 6th with a 3-14 record.
3. The Chiefs are trying to win. Again, did everyone forget that they were 12-1 and battling for the #1 overall seed and Bye and Home Field Advantage?
Teams like that do not lose to the Browns. And teams like that do not lose to the Browns when the Browns want to lose. It was the most obvious play in the world….but it seemed like it was popular to be on the other side? Anyways, the score isn't what frustrates me. That was a given. What frustrates me is that Nick Chubb, who has been through so much over the last year, broke his ankle in the loss.
Dude just can't catch a break. Career has to be over, right? That's a damn shame. He's one of my all-time favorites and honestly, one of the Browns all-time greats. Sad ending to an already sad season.
**If the NFL doesn't flex the Browns out of their Sunday Night game with the Dolphins in two weeks they are fucking morons. They have two more days to do so. I'd put the odds at about -100000…which is what the Chiefs should've been today.
