Your 2024 Christmas Streaming Guide

As the holidays approach, it's important for all of us to have media on deck to distract ourselves, in laws and most importantly, the children. So I went through the big four streaming services and picked out 5 movies from each for you to toss on the the Samsung this coming week.

Netflix

1. Klaus - Despite winning a bunch of awards and being nominated for an Oscar, I feel like this movie kind of flew under the radar. For my money's worth, this is probably the best Christmas movie to come out since Elf. Easy to watch, great holiday feel and beautiful animation.

2. The Christmas Chronicles - To be frank, I'm not a huge fan of this movie. However, people seem to love it so I've come to accept I'm in the minority. Regardless of my distaste for it, Kurt Russell is a good Santa.

3. The Family Man - This is probably one of the better christmas movies to come out in the 21st century but that is more due to the lack of overall competition. I'll always stand up for Cage, though.

4. The Christmas Chronicles 2 - I really dug through all of Netflix trying to find good christmas movies but that search ended after the last entry. This is just a worse version of the original movie but you can find worse things to distract your kids with.

5. Hot Frosty - This is a BAD movie. But it is so bad that it's almost kind of fun to watch and make fun of.

Max

1. Christmas Vacation - One of the all time classics that still holds up today. Just rewatched it last night and it's crazy how much more you sympathize with Clark with age.

2. A Christmas Story - People have made a bit out of hating this movie as a contrartian bullshit thing. I hate that. This is a very good slice of americana that hits like a warm slice of apple pie this season.

3. 8-Bit Christmas - This is a sneaky good recent movie that is basically A Christmas Story but with a N64 instead of a BB Gun.

4. The Polar Express - I still find this animation style a little creepy but this undeniably captured the christmas spirit.

5. Elf - No need to pitch the best Christmas movie of the last 20 years.

Hulu:

1. Christmas Vacation  - I'm not gonna recommend non-classics just because I already recommended these on Max.

2. A Christmas Story

3.  Jingle All the Way - I love this movie. Just something about that like, 1985-2000 era of Arnold movies where his name would be a guy named like, Howard Langston with an inexplicable Austrian accent that works for the CIA that I love. This is no exception.

4. The Polar Express

5. Elf

Prime Video

1. Santa Claus is Coming To Town - Of all the Rankin/Bass movies, this is my favorite. Fred Astaire narrating, Mickey Rooney as Santa, stopmotion kids fighting against the tyrrany of the Burgermeister Meisterbuger. Big fan.

2. Jingle All the Way

3. Love Actually - This movie is like, the British Avengers. Big cast of heavy hitters all delivering that fuzzy feeling amid the island of red faced cave creatures that is England.

4. It's A Wonderful Life - Another all time classic that needs no introduction. I'm well overdue for a rewatch and you probably are too.

5. The Holiday - Another brit movie, this won't blow the doors off you but it's a solid holiday watch if you never got around to it.
