Embarrassing As It Gets: A Cop At Rupp Arena Allegedly Threatened To Arrest A Kentucky Fan For The Heinous Crime Of .... Standing During A UK Basketball Game

This has been making its way around the college basketball world. I want to be surprised, but for any person that has seen a game at Rupp Arena or went to Kentucky, you know the deal. You know about the blueheads - the annoying olds who get the seats in the lower bowl because they are rich. They take up far too many seats and think they have the right to dictate how the arena is. We need to get them in boxes and away from it all because it's the number 1 reason Rupp Arena isn't the best homecourt in America. 

You have them calling security and cops for people standings. Just to be clear, allegedly with a threat of arrest, but it's pretty clear the cop goes and tells him to sit down. WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE? This is a rivalry game in college basketball. If you want to sit on your ass, stay home. In fact we need to make this a thing now. If you get a ticket to a Kentucky game, stand directly in front of these sort of people and refuse to move until the olds refuse to show up. 

This is far from the first time it's been a problem. It was a problem when I was in college 20 years ago. The student section gets the spot behind the basket and some upper level. It sucks. You see the best homecourt advantages in college basketball and the student section is wrapped around a side. It's people actually standing and making noise. I'm also 99% certain you can't get arrested for standing. I'd love to see that charge though. Thank God Mark Pope has this team at 10-1, a national title contender.
