The College Football Transfer Portal Problem Must Be Fixed ASAP And Kirk Herbstreit Joined PMT To Give Some Thoughts On How It Could Be Done
On today's Pardon My Take... KIRK HERBSTREIT! The college football expert joined the show once again to preview all four College Football Playoff games this weekend, and plus how the NCAA fix the transfer portal.
It is no secret that the portal has created a ton of headaches in the college football universe this year. Do student athletes deserve the ability to move to a new environment if they feel like it? Absolutely. But the timing of everything sure seems like it could use some cleaning up.
Look at Penn State's backup QB, Beau Pribula, for example. Instead of prepping for SMU and the CFP game in Happy Valley, he entered the portal because if he were to wait, the whole dynamic of other teams rosters would change. Can't have that.
So, why was that the case? Herbstreit gave his thoughts on today's show...
There just doesn't seem to be any consistency with some of these decisions. Some guys are entering the portal, but staying with their current teams throughout the College Football Playoff, and then you have Pribula, who is leaving Penn State effective immediately.
The whole thing is a mess, and it must be fixed ASAP. Somebody do something!
