'It Wasn't Our First Option. We Obviously Made A Mistake' - The 49ers Simply Won't Miss Any Chance To Bury De'Vondre Campbell For Quitting On The Team

I assumed by now the 49ers would have moved on from all De'Vondre Campbell stuff, you know, the guy who quit on the team a week ago:

But now you have Kyle Shanahan with one of the most direct shots a coach will ever make. Calling him a mistake and making sure everyone knows he wasn't even their first option is as brutal as it gets. I agree with everything the 49ers did too. They suspended him for the rest of the season so he can't get cut and signed by another team. They are making him pay for quitting on them. No problem here with that, why reward him when he cost you in the second half of a must-win game?

It's not just a player or two either. It's every notable player on the 49ers coming out and basically saying a variation of the same thing. But for Shanahan to publicly admit it was a mistake to sign him is as damning as the suspension. I'm sure there will be a team in the offseason that signs him, it's how sports work. But that list is about next to no one instead of a handful of teams now.

All I know is if the 49ers win and/or something bad happens on defense, we're getting a whole new round of quotes. No chance in hell the 49ers just let this story die. They are still talking about it a week later and there's no sign of stopping.
