Psycho Joe Mazzulla Lived Up To His Name By Completely Losing His Shit On Some Bozo Refs

There's a good chance that you've seen a blog on this website at one time or another that referenced Joe Mazzulla as Psycho Joe. It usually comes as a result of some sort of completely insane quote or moment that helps illustrate what a monster this man truly is. The best part of those moments and why they are always so good is because they are 1000% authentic. There's no schtick. There's no gimmick. Joe Mazzulla is a legitimate basketball psycho. He's also a champion and the owner of the best coaching winning percentage in NBA history, but that's neither here nor there.

All you have to do is look at him tonight. The Celts blew a game to the Bulls after one of the worst 4th quarters of their season, and on the way to that eventual loss was some of the craziest bullshit you'll ever see from an NBA officiating crew. A 3 point game about midway through the game there's a jump ball. No biggie, happens all the time. Unfortunately, this led to an official taking the game into his own hands and dishing out back-to-back techs on Jaylen Brown and Joe Mazzulla. Not too long after that, Tony Brothers called another 4th quarter tech on Jayson Tatum. It was a clusterfuck like you read about.

Naturally, there was 0.0% chance Joe Mazzulla was going to let that slide. Again, he's a psycho

When we say he's 100% authentic, this is what we mean. This wasn't an act for the cameras. Joe Mazzulla was ready to destroy that bozo. That 5 point swing played a massive role in the outcome of this game (along with the Celts playing like complete dogshit) so Joe was well within his rights to lose his shit. He'll cut the check for the fine the NBA will give him for using derogatory language towards an official, but it was completely justified so whatever.

The second that dust up ended I couldn't wait to hear Joe's postgame. Not because I thought he was going to go scorched earth, but because of the complete opposite. I couldn't want to see how he was instantly going to pretend like nothing happened. He's not like that crybaby Steve Kerr who goes up to the podium after getting screwed and cries about it. As expected, Joe delivered there as well

Best coach in the league and I'm not even sure it's particularly close. The man delivers in every single aspect of his job. I love him going to war for his players and being out for blood and justice. Shit like this is why Mazzulla has the ultimate buy-in from every single player on this roster. They know he'll legitimately kill for them. Then, he's such a psycho that he has the ability to internalize it all in an instant and quickly turn into a comedic genius. Look at how he says that all with a straight face! 10/10 execution at not taking the bait and ensuring you don't end up donating any more money to the league.

Jaylen Brown? A little different approach

We'll talk all about this disgusting performance tomorrow, but this couldn't wait. Even in a loss when the team mostly plays some of the grossest basketball we've seen to date, Joe Mazzulla finds a way to once again show us that he is very clearly, The Guy.
