The State College Airport Was Full, So Several Planes of Rich SMU Boosters Got Diverted to Williamsport and the Mustangs Fans Had To Pile in a Bus to the Game and Miss the First Quarter

Having the money to fly private is presumably amazing until the State College, PA airport is full and you can't land there with your team's College Football Playoff matchup beginning in a few hours. That's exactly what happened to several planes full of SMU boosters going to see the Mustangs play Penn State on Saturday morning, so they all called a party bus to get them from Williamsport to Happy Valley and were reportedly supposed to get to the game about an hour late.

I honestly didn't even know this could happen. I know the State College airport doesn't have any international directs, but I figured if you had a flight plan that was approved to land somewhere, you could land there. Guess not.

I'm not sure why all these rich folks were cutting it so close to begin with, but the silver lining is they didn't have to see Kevin Jennings throw three interceptions — two returned for touchdowns — in the first quarter and a half of the game. Maybe Bryson DeChambeau and Craig James arriving will help turn SMU's fortunes in the second half.
