Monday Night RAW Debuts On Netflix Tonight And The Cold-Open Will Give You Instant Goosebumps
Tonight marks the debut of Monday Night RAW on Netflix (and the first time in 32 years that RAW will not be broadcast on cable television) LIVE from the Intuit Dome and the card is absolutely stacked. It feels like a MASSIVELY important show - maybe not quite WrestleMania-level, but akin to SummerSlam or Survivor Series. Maybe even the Royal Rumble.
John Cena is kicking off his Farewell Tour, The Rock is scheduled to make an appearance, we've got some huge matches like Roman Reigns vs Solo Sikoa (in Tribal Combat), CM Punk vs Seth Rollins for the first time in years, and Liv Morgan vs Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women's World Championship....and you just know Triple H has some surprises up his sleeve for us as well.
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin's smoking skull was apart of the WWE drone show last week, maybe he'll make the short trek over from his ranch in Nevada?!
I wouldn't get your hopes up too much for Austin, as it seems he cares way more about hanging out with his cats than getting back in the ring and delivering stunners nowadays, but what I'm saying is - anything and everything is on the table for the Netflix debut. We don't know what's gonna happen or who's walking through that curtain.
Just when we thought hype levels couldn't get any higher, they released the cold-open for tonight's show early (featured at the top of this blog) and I'm now ready to run through a brick wall. That's three minutes of adrenaline mainlined straight into our veins right there, with amazing highlights shown and great narration done by Triple H. I don't know if I love him using "insider terms" like heel/face and shoot/work but the rest of it is so good that my one nitpick doesn't bring it down for me. It does such a perfect job showcasing the pageantry of wrestling with the production value of Netflix, a combination/partnership that hopefully continues to thrive going forward. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us, and to see what RAW on Netflix even looks like!
This also indicates RAW on Netflix will be absent of any/all clips of Vince McMahon....which is extremely understandable, but just a bit surreal at the moment. One of, if not THE most important figure in the history of the business has been Benoit'd overnight. Crazy.
Surviving Barstool will be on the main screen at 8pm ET tonight, no doubt - but RAW gets the second screen until Surviving is over. Stacked night of television.
