The Notre Dame Locker Room Is Reportedly Battling a Flu Outbreak Ahead of Tonight's Orange Bowl Against Penn State
Notre Dame just beat Georgia to earn a berth in the College Football Playoff semi-finals. Other than a fluke loss early in the season to Northern Illinois, nobody has been able to take down the Fighting Irish all season. It looks like this might finally be the year all the stars align for ND to take home its first national championship this century.
Send in the flu outbreak.
The reports right now are that it's been mostly contained to backups and special teams players, but that could obviously change dramatically in the next few hours. Also, special teams players having the flu could be a pretty big issue, given that Notre Dame scored one of its two touchdowns against UGA on a kickoff return to open the second half. This game figures to be pretty low-scoring, too, so ND's special teams units being affected could actually play a huge role in determining the outcome.
Not to be outdone, though, there seem to also be rumors swirling about Penn State potentially having some sort of food poisoning or virus outbreak going around, too.
Well at leas tthe makes things a little more fair heading into tonight. May the healthiest team win.
