Brutal: Scottie Scheffler Couldn't Golf For Weeks, Had Surgery, Because He Had Glass Fragments In His Hand From Making Ravioli On Christmas

[Source] - The world No. 1, 13-time PGA TOUR winner and reigning Player of the Year, admitted Monday during a meeting with media at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club and Lodge that he was helping prepare ravioli on Christmas Day when he punctured the palm of his right hand. Small glass fragments remained in his hand, which required surgery, and caused him to miss The Sentry and The American Express.

I know these weird injuries tend to stay in the baseball world, but here we have world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler saying he was making ravioli on Christmas Day and that's how he got hurt. We knew he had some sort of cooking injury. We didn't know what it really was or how it happened. Now people are trying to make fun of him for making ravioli on Christmas. I love the move. I do pasta every Christmas, get the ham out of here, eat what you like. Pasta is delicious, ravioli is delicious.

That said, I get Scottie is a family man. I get he's willing to help out. You're the best golfer in the world. Let someone else take care of anything involving glass and stay away from it. Think you can use that card when you're the No. 1 golfer in the world and setting records on how much money you're making. Then again, Scottie had the bizarre year with the arrest and cooking injury.

Good news is he seems to be working his way back:

I don't know if I just have injury PTSD, but this is now going to be in my mind every time I cook. If Scottie has to have hand surgery making ravioli, what's stopping a moron like myself? Very easy to happen to someone who is a blogger and making bogeys on my home course vs the Master's winner.

PS: How does a pro athlete get hurt cooking but these two make it out safely?
