If This Is *Actually* Supergirl's Reflection In The 'Superman' Trailer, It's The Greatest Fan Theory Of All Time

Production on the new DC Studios movie, 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow', is officially underway - with House of the Dragon breakout star Milly Alcock in the lead role, Jason Momoa as the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo (FINALLY!), and 'I Tonya' director Craig Gillespie at the helm - but some fans believe they've already spotted Supergirl in the 'Superman' trailer....

Yep, that's right. THIS is what they're claiming could be our first look at Milly Alcock as Supergirl, mirrored off of Fortress of Solitude guard Kelex's robot head....

Being Milly Alcock was just confirmed to make her first appearance as the 'Kara Zor-El' character in this movie, I suppose there could be something to what they're saying, but my god - I feel like you can't see a damn thing here! It's like we're talking about Jesus burnt into toast or the shape of a cloud in the sky or a Rorschach test even! I think everyone is just seeing what they want to see, and eventually your eyes convince you it's the truth; just like when people thought Deadpool was in the reflection on a shard of glass on the poster for 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' or whatever….

I definitely wasn't one of the people who fell for that hook, line, and sinker. No way. Not me.

Personally, I could stare at that all day and not see Milly Alcock, just like William Black looking at the sailboat illusion in 'Mallrats'….

IF the fan theories are right, though, and that winds up being Milly Alcock - I'll be as impressed with a conspiracy as I've ever been. Whoever first discovered it should be hired by the government and put into some super important anti-terrorism job immediately upon discovering the truth. We need those eagle eyes doing much more for this country than simply scoping out comic book movie easter eggs.

I think this flick could be really sweet, though. It's a massively popular comic run and the whole team assembled behind the movie is great so far. James Gunn even said the script is so good they basically kickstarted the movie into production immediately, despite it not being originally planned as the second big-screener in his new DC Universe….

….and the rumors are saying that Gunn is already trying to get its writer, Ana Nogueira, involved in multiple DCU projects going forward. All of these factors are "green flags" that really give me high hopes here.

If you're at all curious about the comic it'll be based on, 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow' by Tom King is a more recent but almost universally beloved miniseries about Supergirl (aka Kara Zor-El) seeking justice and revenge while dealing with grief and her own morals/powers/humanity. It's not just "Superman, but a girl" - she definitely has her own voice and personality, and she's a badass. It actually opens with Kara going to a far-off distant planet without a red sun (to neutralize her powers) so she could get drunk on her 21st birthday - and that's where she meets a young rebellious alien named Ruthye, this tale's narrator.

Ruthye's father was brutally murdered and she swore to avenge him (with the sword that was left in his body - METAL), but she needs some help from Supergirl. After some convincing, the two go on a road trip across the galaxy together, and King does a great job subverting the typical "Supergirl/Superman" narrative by focusing more on the raw, introspective side of Kara rather than just her superhero persona. It even gets surprisingly dark at points. She's wrestling with her own mind the whole time, and it explores themes of loss, resilience, the cost of vengeance, and more….the artwork by Bilquis Evely is absolutely stunning as well. Lobo isn't in the original comic, so I'm not quite sure where he'll fit into the movie - but it is set in a harsh, unforgiving galaxy where it wouldn't feel unnatural at all for everybody's favorite bounty hunter to show up.

Oh yeah, and Krypto's in it - so we may be getting to see that good boy two Summers in a row!

I linked the source material below, though, if you're interested….

'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow' is slated to hit theaters June 26th, 2026.
