Lunatic John McAfee Crawled Out Of The Grave In AI Form) To Peddle A Meme Coin, Because Of Course He Did

Yahoo News - Antivirus guru and erstwhile tax outlaw John McAfee is back from the dead, at least on social media, and he wants to sell you a meme coin.

Three-and-a-half years after his 2021 apparent suicide in the face of extradition from Spain to the United States, the former presidential candidate's X-formerly-Twitter account sprang back to life, announcing that an "AI version" of McAfee called AIntivirus and promoting a meme token of the same name."You didn't think I would miss this cycle," McAfee's account teased, "did you?"

Almost immediately after the mostly-silent account woke up from its slumber to start shilling crypto, folks online began to speculate that it had been hacked, prompting the late fugitive tech founder's widow, Janice McAfee, to set the record straight.

As of right now, it's unclear what role AI plays in the project, or whether McAfee's widow is operating his official page or the @AIntivirus account, which has over the past day tweeted up a storm in the late programmer-turned-criminal's voice.

"The token nobody thought would exist (and probably shouldn’t) is gunning for the crypto app where anything can happen," the account posted. "No idea what’ll happen next. Maybe they’ll list it. Maybe they’ll laugh and ban my account."

"Either way," the post continued, "the rocket’s fueled, and I’m not steering."

In another post, written again in McAfee's voice, the AI clone of the alleged tax evader jeered at those who thought he and his widow had been hacked.

"You think I got hacked? I wrote the damn playbook," AIintivirus wrote. "Every 'hack' you’ve ever heard of is just someone fumbling through tricks I mastered decades ago while chain-smoking on a yacht."

Legendary antivirus tycoon/high-seas adventurer/alleged tax-evader John McAfee has done the unthinkable: he’s come back from the dead. Kinda. Sorta. Possibly. Maybe.

But rather than appear in a tinfoil hat on tiktok, McAfee’s reemergence arrives in the only form that makes sense these days: AI. He’s calling it “AIntivirus,” and this brand-new AI-driven comeback also involves, (brace yourselves), a shiny new meme coin.

Who the fuck is John McAfee? some of our new readers are probably asking. Well our ignorant friends, allow us to catch you up on this eccentric and enigmatic man.

John McAfee’s improbable life included, among other highlights, building a fortune with an antivirus software that half your relatives’ computers probably used in 2002.

Chief, Eddie, and I did an awesome Dog Walk on McAfee and his Netflix doc- "Running with the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee."

(Sidebar - man I miss doing these all the time. Chief, Eddie, and I had a lot of fun talking about all this crazy shit.)

Then there was the run-for-president/run-from-the-law/run-from-reality portion of the program, culminating in an arrest in Spain.

Finally, in 2021, McAfee was found dead by apparent suicide in a Spanish prison. And that, dear friends, is typically where the story ends.

But not with McAfee. Oh, no. He’s the gift that keeps on giving, like a pop-up ad you just can’t click away, or herpes.

We should have all saw this coming. If you’re rising from the dead in 2025, you had better be bringing a cryptocurrency with you.

You aren't shit in 2025 if you don't have your own memecoin. This new memecoin, $AINTI, soared to a multimillion-dollar market cap in a matter of days because, well, this is crypto and nothing about it makes any sense. You just have to sit there and pretend you understand like all the other nerds who claim to do, or you dare ask questions or pointing out how it doesn't make sense and risk getting lectured and called a moron.

The ghost of John McAfee thrives on chaos, and if you expected anything less than a full-blown carnival of a man, well, that’s on you. He gave us alleged assassination attempts, prison breaks, a run for president, and an entire era of antivirus pop-ups. The man’s posthumous foray into AI and meme coins is a natural next step.

We are living in a timeline so surreal that not even the greatest minds of science fiction could have predicted it.
