'It Was Embarrassing' - Jeff Capel Was Forced To Apologize To Everyone Because Of How Much Pitt Sucked On National TV Last Night
We've reached a tough time of the year. Not because of 1 football game left. Not because of the fake Spring weather we had the last couple of days. But because we're forced to watch ACC basketball on Monday night. The ACC sucks. I don't want to say that, I grew up on ACC basketball. Old man went to Wake Forest, it was the league in college basketball, needless to say ACC basketball was on in the Reags household quite a bit in the late 80s and 90s.
But this? This version of the ACC is basically what everyone screamed at Gonzaga for. Duke is Gonzaga. The rest of the league is the WCC. Louisville/Clemson are the St. Mary's/BYU when they were in the WCC. UNC sucks. Boston College sucks. Miami is flat out awful. Syracuse sucks. Cal sucks. You get the point. It's a horrendous league and because of Big Monday we're forced to watch the ACC at 7pm when there's really nothing else on. That's how this happens last night:
That game was at Pitt. Pitt was somehow still fighting for an NCAA Tournament bid. You lose to Virginia at home like that, you should be automatically eliminated from the NCAA Tournament. It's also why Jeff Capel had to apologize to everyone. Frankly, not a strong enough apology. You're a 13-point favorite at home and weren't even competitive!
Even the biggest ACC fans have to admit the league sucks. We all see it. It's not shocking when you have this much coaching turnover:
Brad Brownell is going to be the longest tenured head coach in the ACC heading into next year. This is a league that was dominated by coaches. But it's time to strip the ACC of the 7pm Monday slot on Big Monday. That used to be important. There was a time we had the Big East game on at 7 with Bill Raftery, a Big 12 game and then a late night west coast game. At this point just give us a Big 12 doubleheader. No one should be subjected to watching Pitt vs Virginia.
