"By Far The Craziest Shit I've Seen This Week" - Kevin Durant Did Not Hold Back And Completely Eviscerated Kendrick Perkins For Suggesting That He Was Actually The Leader Of The Thunder

NBA history is littered with player beefs. We've had Shaq vs Kobe, Shaq vs any good new era center in the league, the Celts Big 3 and Ray Allen, Rondo and CP3, the list goes on and on.

One of the more bizarre beefs we've had in recent memory that may be the most lopsided of them all is Kevin Durant vs Kendrick Perkins. For whatever reason these two continue to go at it, and even though it's one of the more bizarre beefs we've ever had that certainly doesn't look like it's coming to an end anytime soon.

Our latest run in between these two revolves around you guessed it, Perk saying something completely insane

How true is this? None of us normal people can truly know for sure. We weren't there, we weren't in that locker room. On the surface, it sounds pretty insane, but Perk is true to some degree. The leader of the team isn't always the best player. You can find certain groups throughout NBA history where the "leader" was maybe the 2nd or 3rd or 4th best player. Take the Warriors for example. Steph Curry is their best player, but many probably considered Draymond their "leader" during the heyday of their Dynasty. The Heat Big 3 with LeBron, Wade was the leader whereas LeBron was the best player. The Big 3 Celtics, Pierce was their leader while KG was probably their best player. It happens all the time.

But Perkins being that guy over KD/Russ/Harden? That seems a little far-fetched, and you knew now that he had time on his hands while being injured there was no way KD was going to allow this to be said on national TV and not respond.

While we may not have been there during that era of Thunder basketball, I feel confident in suggesting that Kevin Durant was. If anyone would know about the leadership of that team, he'd be a good guy to ask. What I like about this tweet is it wasn't KD saying that he was actually the leader, just that it was patently insane that Perkins was under the impression that he was the leader of that team.

In a week that saw the Luka trade and everything else that happened during the deadline, I find it very funny that KD made it very clear that even with all that stuff going on it doesn't even come close to this claim by Perkins. The Luka trade is largely considered the craziest sports story maybe ever, but that's actually #2 according to Durant, which is hilarious.

You'll remember, this is certainly not the first time they've had this type of back and forth

Perhaps in his mind, Perk was bringing that championship mindset and mentality to the Thunder after winning a title with the Celtics? Maybe in his mind, he was the veteran former champion/leader while everyone else just went along with whatever he said while rolling their eyes or something. I can see that being how things went down, and KD is just letting him know that during that era, nobody on the team looked at him as the leader of that group.

In the end, there are no real winners here except anyone who enjoys KD burning people on Twitter. As one of those people, I find this entire thing to be wildly entertaining. It's one of those situations where you can never really prove any of it, but at the same time, the truth doesn't even really matter in a beef like this. I'm not sure why Perk is so hellbent on having this stance with KD, but my guess is this beef isn't ending any time soon. Perk is always going to go on TV and say crazy shit because that's how he's earned himself a shit ton of money on ESPN, and KD is always going to hop on Twitter and respond to this shit when he has time on his hands. It's a tale as old as time.

Stay tuned, because chances are this is only getting started and we'll have another THIS LEAGUE moment at some point.
