A Sad Day, A Bad Day - Taylor Swift Is Officially 1-1 In Super Bowls
Wow. What a fucking disaster. Let me start out by saying this for all of the absolutely braindead, rotted, obtuse "Swifties" on Twitter who seem to think anything negative said against the Chiefs, or Travis, even in jest, is the ultimate cardinal sin - it never mattered if the Chiefs won or lost tonight, Taylor and Travis will be fine.
The fact of the matter is, they lost. The team, from the jump, was just NOT on it. The Eagles came out on fire, and stayed on fire throughout the entire game. I watched (almost) every Chiefs game this year and as a casual football fan, I've never seen a choke job like this. I, and the rest of the sports world, agree with this.
All week long people have been making jokes that Taylor Swift would dump Travis Kelce because of a Super Bowl loss, a joke which I personally thought was hilarious. So absurd, so out of the question, that it made it funny. Right after the half when the Chiefs were down 34-0, I made the joke that everyone made all week:
Put aside the fact I literally said "Lmaoooooo jk jk" IN THE TWEET, I fully assumed it was a harmless joke. The Chiefs were bad tonight. No magic on the field. Travis himself had TWO drops. They just weren't in the same space, mindset, or preparedness that Philly was. And good for Philly! Winning 3 Super Bowls in a row has never been done and is nearly impossible…hence why this was all such a big deal. It was a longshot they fell short of. It sucks! But you know what? What kind of relationship blossoms with only wins? How can you say "for better or for worse," when you haven't been a part of the worst? Now Taylor has a chance to cheer Travvy up. She's not going to DUMP HIM, she's not going to ABANDON KANSAS CITY, she's not going to stop going to football games if Travis is playing. So, someone tell me why this was the response I got online to this tweet (that I've since deleted, as people started getting super fucking personal about it)?
Listen, I don't like to turn against my own kind. But when they turn on me, I have no choice. These aren't Swifties. These are psycho, parasocial freaks who can't separate their own reality from the reality of the world. I feel bad for them.
You know who I don't feel bad for? Travis and Taylor. They'll be on a beach somewhere in 48 hours, reaping the benefits of a year's worth of hard work and spending the money they both deserve. Cheers to them. Sorry to the Chiefs, sorry to Patrick Mahomes who worked really hard this season but - you win some, you lose some. We'll get em next year.
