No Days Off: College Basketball Needs To Bring Back The 24-Hour Marathon And Do It Today So There's No Football Hangover

I've blogged about my love for the 24-hour tipoff marathon numerous times. However, I've grown and adapted. We don't need the 24-hour marathon to start the season anymore. We need to have it today. Start the marathon at like 1am when people are going nuts still from the Super Bowl, the postgame coverage is all ending and start it off with some west coast mid-major game. Just a little taste to come down from the Super Bowl.

The fact is today is the day a large amount of people start to watch college basketball. It's what we have on every single day and it's now the sprint to March Madness. Everyone is already pushing for today to be a national holiday. Yeah, it should. A large amount of people take off work today. There's NOTHING on. We're all just seeing more stories from the Super Bowl and instead we could have a Siena/Iona game on right now. We got Houston/Baylor tonight, Id say give us even more big games. This is the first day that college basketball owns the TV.

We already got announcers in on the idea!

I know every college basketball person today does the 'here's your guide now that football is over.' What's a better guide than having games on right now? We're all starved for something and I don't want to wait 24 hours from the start of the Super Bowl for a college basketball game. Plus, the ACC sucks. Clemson/UNC is an afterthought at 7pm. Hell, there's only 2 major conference games today. We can solve that with the 24-hour tipoff right now.
