Jim Tressel Has Been Named The Lieutenant Governor Of Ohio
Am I crazy or in this ultra divisive political climate, is this not the PERFECT decision for the great state of Ohio? I see people on the internet up in arms over this one and honestly, no schtick and no jokes, the outrage makes no sense to me. I do understand the concern that winning football games does not equate to being a good Lieutenant Governor, but if you have that concern, you are unaware of who Jim Tressel is. The man is not just the calmest, most collected, most intelligent football coach this state has ever seen.....he also went on to the the VP of Strategic Engagement at Akron, followed by being the PRESIDENT at Youngstown State. The dude is a leader of men. He's beloved in the state. He bleeds Ohio, from up in Youngstown to over in Berea to down in Columbus. He is not a hot head or polarizing whatsoever. He's highly educated. And when he speaks, people of this state listen.
AND NOT THAT IT MATTERS BUT.....here is his football resume:
- 229 wins and 79 losses as a Head Coach
- 6 Big Ten Titles
- NATIONAL CHAMPION
- 9-1 vs. Michigan
I see zero issues with this decision, and honestly, I hope it brings the state closer together. The only concern I have is that once you slab an R/D next to his name, will the other side start to dislike him? But again, he might be the only person in politics that can withstand that reality. We've had Woody Hayes. We've had Urban Meyer. We have Ryan Day. And all have their fans, and all have their haters. But who hates Jim Tressel????? No one!
I'm excited to see what he does in this role, and if anyone is taking futures on him being Governor one day, I'd sprinkle some change on YES.
