A Hero Mavs Fan Mouthed "Fire Nico" While On The Jumbotron And Was Immediately Escorted Out Of The Arena

As you can imagine, Mavs fans are pretty pissed at their professional basketball team. More specifically, Nico Harrison and the new ownership group. I'm not sure what they expected, but a fascinating aspect of this whole ordeal was what the environment would be like at Mavs home games. Not in the sense of something violent happening, but the sheer disgust of 18,000 people all showing up pissed. Booing their own team, calling for Nico Harrison to be fired, the works.

When they played their first game at home after the trade, it was clear the team was going to make a conscious effort to try and keep all the fan reactions out of the equation

Gee, why do we think they didn't want to put any fans on the jumbotron right now? What might have happened that would remove that part of the fan experience from a game?

Oh, that's right. You ripped their 25 year old MVP away from them for no fucking reason.

When the opportunity was finally presented and fans were put on the jumbotron, this hero, yes I said hero, showed exactly what the Mavs were trying to avoid

I don't know who that guy is, but I know that guy gets it. Nothing profane, nothing obscene. Just a solid "FIRE NICO", which is exactly how every single Mavs fan feels right now. At first, I thought there might have been a "FUCK NICO", but it looked more like "FIRE" upon rewatch. Both work fine, but at least this way you aren't being profane and giving the team a reason to kick you out because of some bullshit like "creating an unsafe environment" or whatever.

Just kidding. Of course the Mavs kicked this hero out

How is it possible that the Mavs continue to make this whole thing EVEN WORSE with every decision they make in regard to the Luka trade? I mean holy shit. Is this not America? You can't cheer "FIRE NICO" anymore?

Serious question, are the Mavs addicted to bad PR? Are they obsessed with giving every single Mavs fan more and more ammo to hate them forever? Do they understand what they are doing to their own fanbase? First, you trade Luka, then you force Dirk into being a quasi-Lakers fan, and now you're throwing out fans for voicing their opinion and not even being an asshole about it?

YIKES.

Guess what? This is only going to make things worse! More and more fans are going to do this every chance they get, and what's the move then? Throw everyone out until you're playing in an empty arena? How is nobody advising the Mavs to simply to the exact opposite of everything we've seen over the last week. It's been one disaster after the next and the organization still doesn't get it.

So shoutout to that fan. You're a hero as far as I'm concerned. You're also probably about to be banned for life or something, but who gives a shit now that they traded Luka. You're still a legend in my book.

P.S.

No chance they allow another fan on the jumbotron ever again. Or at the very least it's going to be a paid employee that's in the stands where they can be sure something like this isn't going to happen again. How embarrassing.
