Ja Morant Is Trying To Recruit Zach LaVine And Aaron Gordon For The Dunk Contest After Being Inspired By Mac McClung

At this point, I think we can all agree that Mac McClung "saved" the Dunk Contest for the 3rd straight year. Stephon Castle certainly had his moments in this year's contest so he deserves a shoutout, but let's be real here. This was the Mac McClung show from his very first dunk
That was about as close to a perfect Dunk Contest performance as you could have, and I don't think anyone would suggest that McClung got inflated scores that were not deserving of a perfect 5-0. I don't care if it sounds like I'm being a prisoner of the moment, Mac McClung is one of the best Dunk Contest participants in NBA Dunk Contest History. The first ever 3-peat, insane dunk after insane dunk that repeatedly combined elite ingenuity with elite execution. It's everything you want as a fan watching this event.
Not only was his performance great, there's also a real chance that Mac McClung was just able to do something the NBA itself could never pull off and something fans have been screaming for ever since 2016
Uhhhhhhhhhhh what? Ja Morant, I'm going to be very clear about something here. You can't do something like this and then not follow through. Don't be LeBron and make promises you have no intentions of keeping when it comes to the Dunk Contest. We all want to see Ja participate, he's shot it down for years, and now he's not only suggesting he's down, but he's recruiting the Dunk Contest Avengers in Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon? Hell yea. No chance either guy agrees but you know what? Crazier things have happened. There was that clip from a Bulls practice a few weeks ago where LaVine joked about getting back into the Dunk Contest.
The All Star game is going to be in LA next year at the Clippers new arena. You're telling me Steve Ballmer can't drop a duffle bag filled with cash to those three to convince them all to participate? Think of the ratings. Ballmer could easily tell them to name their price and just tell Adam Silver to look the other way. Nobody will complain and in return, we'll get what in theory should be the greatest Dunk Contest in basically a decade.
So not only did Mac McClung deliver and save the Dunk Contest in all 3 of his wins, he also may have just sparked something incredible for next year. Adam Silver needs to just reward this dude with a full time NBA spot by now and force the Magic to stop screwing around and just carry him on the 15 man roster. The league is already a gigantic Mac McClung merchant, he may as well get some NBA run out of it.
