Praise The Lord! Congestion Pricing In NYC Is Likely Being Removed

NY Post - Congestion pricing, we hardly knew ye.

New York City’s spectacularly unpopular congestion pricing scheme is on death row as the Trump administration will announce Wednesday it is pulling its approval of the toll — slamming it as “backwards and unfair” — in a major blow to Gov. Kathy Hochul, The Post has learned.

The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration will terminate the approval of the controversial program, according to a letter Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is set to send to Hochul on Wednesday afternoon.

“New York State’s congestion pricing plan is a slap in the face to working class Americans and small business owners,” said Duffy, noting that commuters entering NYC have already financed the construction and improvement of city roadways through their taxes.

OMG! OMG! OMG! I thought I saved that phrase for The New York Mets, but what a treat to wake up on a Wednesday and see that the most controversial thing in NYC in DECADES is likely on its way out the door. Pure joy and elation to say the least. 

Now listen, I’m sure a ton of people will comment on here and try to get this to become a political thing but it’s not about that. It’s about common sense and I’m just glad someone stepped in and had the foresight to eliminate this DISASTER shortly after it started. 

For those not in the know, Congestion Pricing was basically something that bangs out drivers with an additional toll the minute they enter certain parts of the city. It’s an absolute joke. This city was built on nurses, cops, fireman, sanitation, mailmen and overall blue collar people. This congestion pricing absolute hammered people who are just barely making ends meet that have to travel into the city. It was shortsighted and a slap in the face to the people who keep the city running. Thank God that someone stepped in and is putting the wheels in motion to end this and have the backs of the people in the working class. An absolute MASSIVE win for the little guy! MASSIVE.
