Jose Altuve Shows How Good Of A Teammate He Is By Making The Switch To Left Field While Not Pissing And Moaning About It

Well would you look at that, a player on a team openly willing to make a position switch so that it will help the team, I'll be damned! In light of the Raffy Devers "I play third" news this week, the Jose Altuve news was sort of lost in the shuffle. There had been talks of Altuve switching to the outfield if Alex Bregman was to re-sign with Houston, but after they signed former Gold Glove winner Brendan Rodgers it seems as if Altuve may have a new home in left. His defense has slipped and he's willing to do anything to help the team, compare that to Devers who is actual dog water at third base who refuses to move for a much better defender in Bregman, it's just a wild move. One guy showing how selfless he is and how he's going to do what helps the team and one guy is showing how entitled he thinks he is. Now Altuve is still going to get some games at 2nd but it sounds like him in left in a legit plan they want to go forward with, since it's better for the long haul.

He sounds completely open to the challenge and seems excited. With Yordan Alvarez making the move to full time DH, Altuve could see a lot of games out there. And maybe he does look like one of the kids in the HR Derby patrolling the outfield making plays but still, he's good enough to make it work. Just the complete opposite of what is going on in Boston with Devers planting his feet at third refusing to move for Bregman, makes no sense to me why Raffy even wants to play third, he knows how bad he is over there! It's not like the Sox asked Devers to go play shortstop or catcher, they want him to DH or play a little first, something he's more than capable of doing. The Astros are asking Altuve to do something much harder and he didn't even blink when asked. That's a real winning teammate.

He doesn't have the strongest arm but he looks fine out there, seems like a guy who will be able to play a majority of plays out there. A guy who played his whole career at 2nd, 9 time All-Star there for a reason, he was openly willing to move for Bregman if it made the team better, that's a one of a kind guy right there. As long as he's in the lineup he's fine, doesn't matter where he's playing. Just the complete opposite with whats going on up in Boston.
