Delta Airlines Is Offering To Pay Passengers Of The Overturned Toronto Flight A Measly $30,000 Each For Almost Killing Them On The Runway
Source - As investigators work to determine what caused Delta Flight 4819 to crash and overturn at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, the Toronto Pearson president and CEO noted the "extreme conditions" at the airport in the days before the dramatic incident.
Toronto Pearson President and CEO Deborah Flint said that from Thursday to Sunday, there were "extreme conditions" at the airport from two separate storms.
When asked if the weather could have contributed to the crash, Flint said, "This would not be a time for us to have theory or to speculate." The Delta regional jet -- a CRJ 900 aircraft operated by Endeavor Air -- touched down, set fire, flipped over and came to a stop upside-down. The 76 passengers and four crew evacuated.
Delta is offering $30,000 to each passenger onboard the plane, the airline confirmed to ABC on Wednesday. Delta Care Team representatives are telling customers this gesture has no strings attached and does not affect rights.
Flint on Tuesday praised the flight crew, saying they "heroically led passengers to safety." She said she was grateful there was no loss of life or life-threatening injuries.

$30,000?! That's cute. Add at least another zero on to each one of those checks and then we'll talk, Delta. The fact that they're trying to get out of this mess for $2.28 million is laughable. It reminds me of the scene in Landman where the oil company tries to pay off the familes' of the dead workers with $250k, but behind the scenes they said they'll go to 500. That's the situation Delta is in right now. They're trying to get everyone to take these checks before the concussion fog wear off. And yeah, no one died, but some people got fucked up. Not to mention the mental trauma and PTSD that they're going to have every time they set foot in an airport.
I guess the most insulting part of this is that Delta profited $18 BILLION on a $57 BILLION operating revenue. Meaning they're offering to pay out 0.01267% of their profits to the people that they almost killed. Call me crazy but they're going to have to dig a little deeper. KFC did a breakdown that includes all the numbers...
Having said that...I guess...I'd...take it? I mean they do say it's no strings attached, so you can sue the fuck out of them after the fact. I'd just triple check that with a lawyer first. Anyway, fingers crossed everyone who was hurt makes a speedy recovery. I'm sure whatever money they end up taking will help with that.
