Hendrick Motorsports Pisses Excellence

On Sunday, William Byron, driver of the No. 24 for Hendrick Motorsports, was a repeat winner of the Daytona 500, making him only the fifth driver to have back-to-back victories in what is affectionately known as "NASCAR's Super Bowl."
We were lucky enough to be part of his press tour in NY HQ the following week, and in my interview with Byron, I asked him the following:
In one word, how would you describe the shop you race for?
And he quickly answered… EXCELLENCE.
Now NASCAR fans (or Hendrick haters) might say it's a lot easier to be excellent when you have the best drivers and equipment. Others might question his claim of 'excellence' when Team Penske seems to have a stranglehold on winning championships (since 2018, Penske has won 4 of 7 championships, while Hendrick has "only" won 2).
But, championships aside, William now has 10 wins since the beginning of 2023, finished 3rd in the NASCAR Cup Series Championship standings 2 seasons in a row, has back-to-back wins at Daytona, and seems poised to make yet another run at that trophy in November.
Call that whatever the fuck you want… I say it's excellent.
Take a lap.
