Real And Spectacular - FAU Hoops Held A 'Seinfeld Night' With A Fake Kramer, Marine Biology And Changing Their Court To Del Boca Vista
There are few tv shows that can hold up and last as long as Seinfeld. The show premiered in 1989. These kids weren't even close to being alive during the run of the show, yet here we are. You're hosting a Seinfeld night during a college hoops game because the show is that good. The Office will likely be in the same boat and really that might be it just in terms of people no matter the age knowing the show.
But this is perfect for FAU. They are the sort of program that can get away with this. They are a fun and decent mid-major team, who is in Florida and can have absurd promos to help draw people in. Plus, I'll always have a soft spot for them after they sent me to Ireland in #BrackeBuskers. Shout out that team. But back to last night, the marine biology is a nice touch. That's where they should have really leaned into it all
I'm not sure why they stopped at just one fake Kramer though. Bring in everyone, or at least, fake everyone. Also probably should have set up even more Del Boca Vista stuff around the arena. Tailgate looked decent, gotta lean into the Del Boca Vista name. The worst part? It was a loss for FAU
Can't lose on Seinfeld Night. More mid-majors should lean into promos like this. Play on nostalgia, get people talking about the program for a night and then move on. It's smart.
