'I Wouldn't Think About Another Person' - Rick Pitino Thinks Chris Beard Is The Only Logical Choice For Indiana To Hire As Its Next Head Coach

I live by a basic rule. If Rick Pitino talks, I'm listening. In this case it just so happened to be a podcast called Pardon My Take - ever heard of it? Anyways, this is about what he said about another coach, another job, something he has zero ties to. He made a push for Chris Beard to go to Indiana 

Again, this is what a long ass coaching search does to people. I do think it's hilarious that Mike Woodson hasn't even said a thing about retiring or stepping away yet, but here we are. We've had Brad Stevens, Tony Bennett and Mike Byington's name all thrown out there by people. You may be wondering about Tony Bennett, that came from Dickie V. 

Pitino isn't the first person to bring up Chris Beard. But he is the only active coach, who happens to be a Hall-of-Famer and the best coach in the game publicly saying who Indiana should hire. Again, I have no idea if Indiana would go with a Bobby Knight guy. Beard coached with him at Texas Tech, he's talked about how much he loves Knight. Indiana kept it in the program with Mike Woodson, do they go with another Knight guy? The fact though is Chris Beard can coach his ass off. Brought Texas Tech to a national title game, has Ole Miss ranked, all that. 

This is more me just being fascinated with coaching searches. When you start to have current coaches chiming in and rumors all over the place it becomes news. I also don't think Pitino would say something like this if Beard didn't have some sort of interest. Can't wait to see what person is suggested next.
