The Mavericks Continue To Embarrass Themselves After Blatantly Censoring Out Luka Doncic From A New Team Music Video

Let me preface this blog by once again making it clear that I am in no way trying to pile on as a way to troll Mavs fans when it comes to the Luka Trade and everything that has transpired since, but as I've documented along the way every single update we get is more insane than the last.

The trade itself, the immediate smear campaign the team put out about Luka's weight, the details of how Nico Harrison was swindled by Rob Pelinka, the team kicking out fans for saying FIRE NICO, the CEO admitted he underestimated what the fan reaction would be, it's been nothing but one disaster after another.

Well, what if I told you we have something else to add to the list? The more I think about it, the more I truly believe the Mavs might just be addicted to horrific PR. It's almost as if they want to see how low they can go in terms of their own fanbase's approval rating for some odd reason. You'd think maybe they'd go the opposite route given ya know, everything that happened, but time and time again they prove to be the most tone-deaf team perhaps of all time.

Earlier today they put out a nice little music video. OK, not a big deal I guess. May as well try and hype up the fanbase right?

Wait a minute, did we just see what I think we all saw?

Yes. Yes we did. They made the entire video and legitimately tried to edit/censor Luka out of it

There's just no way. Mind you, this video didn't edit out every appearance of other former Mavs like Josh Green, Maxi Kleber, Quentin Grimes etc, but they damn sure were adamant about blocking out Luka. Even if there's some sort of team rule to remove guys that aren't on the team anymore from their current media, that's a tough pill for the fanbase to swallow when other former players aren't always blocked out yet Luka seems to be. Again, fans don't really care about the "rules" around something like this, especially when it's not consistent! If anything, it makes it worse!

Also, just use different clips! There's no law that says this video had to be filled with Luka moments. You're telling me there's no footage of the bench celebrating without Luka? If it's a team rule that former guys can't be in promos/marketing, wouldn't it make sense to I dunno, make that content without former players being included? Because guess what? Once the public and the fanbase see you blocking out Luka in this video, nothing else matters. That's now the story.

Sometimes I feel like I'm taking crazy pills watching this all unfold. Isn't this PR 101? How is nobody in the Mavs media/social department speaking up and suggesting that hey, maybe blocking out Luka from this video immediately after trading him and the fanbase being pissed isn't the best idea? It just comes off like you're trying to remove him from your history which is INSANE given he's one of the greatest Mavs to ever do it.

For a team that's already in the gutter with their own fanbase, I legitimately cannot understand the thought process behind a move like this. What the hell did everyone involved think would happen the second this video hit the internet? How is there ZERO self awareness with everyone associated with the Mavs? When have we ever seen anything like this? It's all so bizarre.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am now very excited for the DAL/LAL game that takes place in LA in 4 days. If you didn't think Luka was motivated before, how about now? The organization he literally carried is doing what they can to erase him from their history. Yikes.
