Travis Scott Reportedly Gave Cody Rhodes A Black Eye And Ruptured His Eardrum During John Cena's Heel Turn
Even 72 hours after it happened, it's still hard to believe John Cena actually turned heel on Saturday night. I know that's sorta pathetic for a grown man to admit and say out loud here - but this is Mr. Make-A-Wish we're talking about, Mr. Hustle Loyalty Respect; the face of the promotion who SWORE he'd never turn heel and stuck to that promise for over 20 years....so forgive me if I'm still in shock. Heel turns like this only happen once a generation, though!
We got it with Hulk Hogan at Bash at the Beach....Steve Austin at WrestleMania 17....and now John Cena at the Elimination Chamber. Nobody else turning is even comparable from a "shocking" perspective in my opinion. Younger fans would probably point to Rollins turning on The Shield, and older fans would probably bring up Andre turning on Hogan or Shawn turning on Marty, but neither one of those had an entire career worth of established behavior they spit in the face of in that moment.
Oh, and another thing that's hard to believe? THE FACT THAT TRAVIS SCOTT WAS SUCH A BIG PART OF THE TURN!
Dave Meltzer came out today and said Travis Scott ruptured Cody's eardrum and gave him a black eye with that smack!
Would somebody smarten this guy up and let him know wrestling is fake?! We're playing make-believe here, Travis! Chill out! At least he had fun, though….
I'm not gonna lie, even as someone completely baffled as to why he was there, seeing how fired up Travis Scott was after that segment was very cool to see. Much like Bad Bunny, Scott has performed EVERYWHERE in front of the largest crowds imaginable, and still has to admit that the rush of being in the ring is like no other. He's definitely got the bug now.
I wouldn't be surprised if he comes a legit part of the Road to WrestleMania and even has a match somewhere down the line, considering he's rumored to have been training….
I got in the Basement with my old pal Jared Carrabis earlier today to discuss all of this and break it all down, and we had a blast just choppin it up about the graps. I don't think WrestleMania season has ever felt this unpredictable and I couldn't be happier about all of it. Check out the full podcast below….
