The Eagles Make Sure They Never Look Like Dipshit Idiots Who Let Saquon Barkley Walk In Free Agency, Sign Him To A Massive 2-Year Extension

Last offseason, Joe Schoen showed the world that the quickest and easiest way to make everybody think you're an absolute dumbass is by letting Saquon Barkley walk in free agency. ESPECIALLY if there's an HBO camera crew following you around capturing your every move. ESPECIALLY if your team owner already came up to you and practically said he'd rather die than watch Saquon Barkley go to the Eagles.
Not only did Saquon Barkley leave for Philadelphia in free agency, but he went on to have the greatest single season in running back history. The most yards of all time including the regular and post season. The most rushing touchdowns of 60+ yards in a single season. And was the main reason why the Philadelphia Eagles went on to become Super Bowl LIX champions. Sure, he may not have had a massive game in the Super Bowl. But everything he did leading up to that game? And the fact that the Chiefs had to focus so much of their game plan on stopping Saquon that it opened up the passing game for Jalen? The signing of Saquon Barkley directly led to the Philadelphia Eagles capturing their 2nd Lombardi Trophy.
So do you think for one freakin' second that Howie Roseman would ever get caught with his dick in his hand and suffer the same fate as Joe Schoen? Not a dang chance, brother. Saquon still has 2 more years left on his deal, but that's not going to stop Howie Roseman from already locking him up to another 2 years.
Everybody said you shouldn't pay running backs. Nobody wanted to give Saquon Barkley the money that he deserved. Howie Roseman cut against the grain, gave Saquon the long-term deal he was looking for at first, and is now rewarding him with the highest contract that any running back has ever signed. And he's worth every…
single…
penny.
That'll be 5 years with the Eagles. He already has a Super Bowl and an Offensive Player of the Year award to his name as a member of the Eagles. There's a good chance he'll be able to add to both of those totals throughout these next 4 years. I'm sure he'll have a down year at some point during his time in Philly considering how much he carries the ball. But he's already a Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Famer, and he's only been with the team for one year. These next 4 are just a formality, and a chance for him to pad his lead as the greatest running back to ever come through Philadelphia. And a chance to be remembered as one of the greatest running backs to ever play in the NFL, all while wearing a set of wings on his helmet. These next 4 years are about erasing everybody's memory that he was ever a Giant in the first place.
One more time for old time's sake!
