The New Chris Pratt/Millie Bobby Brown Movie Debuted With 10% On Rotten Tomatoes (And It's Also Somehow One Of The Most Expensive Films Ever Made)

I'm gonna go ahead and assume that when Netflix sent a $320 million dollar check over for The Russo Brothers to make 'The Electric State' with Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown, that they were hoping for a sliiightly higher debut on Rotten Tomatoes than 10%. Granted, in the hours since the review embargo has lifted, it's risen up to 22% - but still....

Giphy Images.

At no point did I think 'The Electric State' was gonna be good, though, and that's a bit of a bummer to me, just because I like all parties involved. The Russo Brothers have brought me as much cinematic joy as almost anyone else, I've been a big Chris Pratt guy since the 'Parks and Rec' days, and Millie Bobby Brown obviously crushes as Eleven in 'Stranger Things' - plus she's Jersey Royalty now….

….but this was one of those movies you could tell was going to be rough from the very first look, in my opinion.

How they managed to spend $320 million on it I have no idea, but I think Jerry Seinfeld made like $60 million for that Pop Tart movie last year - so I think Netflix might just have infinite money to dish out.

I don't know what it is with the Russo Brothers outside of Marvel (or even Millie Bobby Brown outside of Stranger Things) but they just can't seem to find their footing! This doesn't really worry me too much for 'Doomsday and 'Secret Wars', though - I have full faith in them inside the MCU (especially when paired with Stephen McFeely) after they went 4/4 with four grand slams in the past. I've even really liked some of the recent quotes I've heard about the films….

….and LOVED some of that leaked concept art (that I can't link here or else the Mouse would have me whacked)….

….but we discuss those leaks, the return of 'Daredevil: Born Again' - and so much more on My Mom's Basement this week - check it out below!
