It's Heartbreaking To See How Stan Lee Was Abused In His Final Years

Man, how heartbreaking is the trailer for this upcoming doc: 'STAN LEE: THE FINAL CHAPTER'?

It's not exactly breaking news that Stan was the victim of elder abuse, considering this was a public news story in his last years, even getting to the point where Kevin Smith tried to speak up and move the Marvel legend into his own house....

....but actually seeing the footage of Stan Lee asking to get out of commitments and being denied, falling asleep at signings, being shoved into warehouse corners on his scooter to rest, and just generally being worked harder than any 94-95 year old should be worked - it's devastating. This is a man whose imagination kickstarted an entire generation of superhero fans and creatives, a man who waved the flag for comic books when almost nobody else would, and over everything else - a man who genuinely seemed kind. Seeing him treated as poorly as he is by the scumbags in this trailer - like he's not even a human being but a cash commodity - pisses me off to an outrageous degree. Stan deserved much, much, MUCH better in his final years.

I don't even know if I can bring myself to watch this full documentary when it comes out, but I certainly hope it reaches its Kickstarter Goal so that some of these assholes can be put on blast. Shit like this should never happen again and maybe exposing those responsible will help that cause. At least, I hope. Here's the Kickstarter link....

UPDATE: It appears there may be more to this story, as this response to the trailer has since started to go viral….

It appears the filmmaker behind the documentary might've had a hand in taking advantage of Stan, or at the very least, enabling it. So despite holding the others accountable, this may not all be on the up-and-up. This is all so sad.

P.S. Let's see how Mike Francesca feels about this….

Sorry, I had to.
