Bill Raftery Reveals His Favorite Call That He's Made, And It Has Nothing To Do With Basketball
On today's Pardon My Take... BILL RAFTERY! The lead analyst for CBS' March Madness coverage joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter on today's show to talk about March Madness, his career, being a legend of the late night game, the genesis of Onions, and more.
The legendary Raftery has been broadcasting basketball games since 1980, where he began this chapter of his career with the ESPN, and then the New Jersey Nets. He has also been on the call for CBS college basketball since 1983, and has been fortunate enough to witness some epic moments on the hardwood.
So, with that in mind, which call is his favorite? Well, when asked by PFT, he said it has nothing to do with basketball. Seriously. Take a look at what he had to say on today's show...
There is nobody like Bill Raftery. Nobody. I've heard so many different, great stories from other broadcasters who have had the pleasure to work with Raft over the years, and the overall consensus is that he is not only a great guy, but he likes to have some fun.
During my college days, I *tried* to stay true to a rule that I wouldn't drink the night before a broadcast. If I were ever fortunate to have the chance to call a game with Bill Raftery one day, I have a feeling that rule would be thrown out the window. What a guy.
