You're Never Going To Believe This, But The Southie St. Patrick's Day Parade Was An Absolute Shit Show
Ahh to be young and on the streets of South Boston. I remember it well...kind of. Actually, I don't remember a thing but I can guarantee you I never once in my life tried to FIGHT A COP because I had too much to drink. Look at this shit...
Am I nuts or is this not insane? Like are there no rules during the parade anymore or is this how it's always been and they're just cracking down? I mean girls are fighting boys for Christ sake....
And when they're not fighting boys they're getting body slammed to ground by the BPD (satisfying)…
Equal rights! There's just a shocking amount of arrest/fight videos floating around on the internet right now…
Not to mention the borg confiscations…
And all this comes after Boston police said they were going to crack down on underage drinking this year.
From WCVB:
"We've actually enhanced our barrier capacity, particularly for this event, by both blocking trucks and actually barriers, a new type of barrier we'll be using, that goes a long way," Boston police Commissioner Michael Cox said.
Police this year are also planning to crack down on underage drinking, following several issues last year, involving fights with juveniles.
"It's gotten worse over the years from all the people coming from the outside," South Boston resident Dan Kelly said.
Kelly said the fights are not the only problem.
"They leave cans around, bottles, urinating in yards and everything else," Kelly said. "It is a pain like that."
South Boston resident Ben Muggia picked up his Guinness on Friday.
Liquor stores in South Boston will close at 4 p.m. on Sunday, while bars must close early around 7 p.m. as well.
Muggia said he thinks people need to show more respect for the neighborhood.
Welp. Looks like that didn't go as planned. That said, nine arrests and fourteen charges isn't that bad considering over one million people attended the parade. The good news is, this year's deplorable behavior leaves us a lot of room for improvement for next year. See ya in 2026!
