A Rockets Fan Pulled Off The Shot Of His Life For $25,000 And The Arena Went Absolutely Bananas

I have no idea if there's anyone out there tracking this sort of thing, but one thing that feels unique about this NBA season is how we're seeing a shit ton of fans hit half court shots to win all sorts of prizes at an alarming rate. Sometimes it's cars, sometimes it's tens of thousands of dollars, sometimes it's for 100k, and for whatever reason it feels like we're seeing it more than ever. Perhaps a part of that is recent bias, but if you're someone who spends their nights watching League Pass, you've seen this kind of thing a handful of times this year. Is this all a ploy by the League Office to go viral and get eyeballs on the product? I don't know how you'd pull that off, but I suppose anything is possible.

But you know what? I love every single one of them. These moments never get old to my simple moron brain.

Tonight was no different, with this one coming from a Rockets fan who stepped up to the plate and cashed in a nice little 25K (minus taxes) with the greatest bank shot of his life.

I really can't even imagine what that feels like to experience. Not even the money part, that's obviously awesome. But the thrill of making a half court shot as a regular person at an NBA game like that in front of a full crowd with everyone going crazy is the dream. I'd be way more pumped about that as stupid as that may sound. That money will come and go, but the moment will live forever.

First, you didn't go out there and get hurt. As a middle aged regular person, that's always on the table when you attempt to do anything athletic. Second, you didn't choke or embarrass yourself. After not getting hurt, this is the next big win. You walk away with a proper attempt that people can respect, that's a win. Even if you didn't make it. At the very least, you're not going viral for being a disaster, and in 2025 that matters. And finally? You cashed it. Doesn't even matter to me if you don't call glass there. If anything, it just adds to the mystique and why that has to be an all time moment.

I mean listen to that crowd! I don't think Rockets fans have cheered that loud for anything this season, and their team is really good! It could potentially be the 2 seed in the West! Listening to that reaction, the pop of that crowd may as well have been Game 7 of the NBA Finals. That's why these moments rule and why I'll always enjoy them. For that brief moment, you've basically experienced what it feels like to win the NBA title, which I imagine feels pretty sweet.
