John Cena Basically Says "Fuck Them Kids" In His First WWE Appearance Since Turning Heel
John Cena made his first appearance in the WWE since turning heel on Monday Night RAW yesterday afternoon (as they are on an overseas tour currently in Brussels) - and the long awaited 'bad guy' promo we got from him did not disappoint.
Cena's definitely taken what he's learned in Hollywood to level up his mic work, and he crafted this great narrative about being the victim of an "abusive relationship" with the fans for the past 25 years; even hilariously singling out a single flabbergasted Augustus Gloop lookin boy in the front row....
....but at no point was he trying to be the "cool heel" as so many are prone to do after the success of the nWo and Hollywood Hogan in particular.
Everyone wanted Cena to have new heel gear along with a new heel theme song, and come out being completely reinvented like we've never seen him before - and he knew that, so he didn't deliver on it. Simple, but genius. He just sat there and cooked, making one good point after another, but always insulting the audience and vilifying them....
Cody Rhodes then came out for their first face-to-face since everything went down - to a MASSIVE pop/cheers might I add….
….and then cut a great promo of his own on this new "whiny bitch" version of John Cena….
The Road to WrestleMania is HEATING UP and it genuinely feels as consistently unpredictable as it ever has in my lifetime - and the product has also been consistently great - so I'm as excited as I could be. I thought this entire segment (embedded in full at the bottom of this blog) was a masterclass and I'm already itching for more.
I love that Belgium fully bought into the heel turn and didn't cheer Cena as well, and I think/hope the other cities along the Euro tour will follow suit. Wrestling is so much better when everyone is in on something together like that. I mean, listen to this….
God, wrestling is so awesome right now. What a wild timeline we're living in. Here's the full segment….
