D-II Drake Continues To Be The Best Story In College Hoops - Puts On A Damn Show Upsetting Mizzou And Gets Its First NCAA Tournament Win Since 1971

Quick shout out here to Drake mostly because watching them is awesome. They are the best story in college hoops. Ben McCollum, the head coach, came from Northwest Missouri State this past offseason. He brought 4 players with him, most notably Bennett Stirtz. All they did was win the MVC, MVC Tournament and now beat Mizzou in the first round. Oh and Bennett Stirtz put on a show

Not only that but its first win since 1971 (I know they won a First Four game, that doesn't count).

Sidenote - that Drake/WKU game was AWESOME. One of those I still remember where I was watching it. But back to this Drake team. They don't play fast, they slow it down, it doesn't matter. They execute and frustrate the shit out of teams. They are AWESOME to watch. That's all mostly due to Stirtz. He does it all. He can be sloppy at times, but that's part of the game.

Mizzou made it interesting here for a little bit, but Dennis Gates was a bit of a disaster. He got outcoached. It's why McCollum is linked to the Iowa job after a year at Drake. The dude just wins. He won a national title at Northwest Missouri State, goes to Drake, wins there. First win since 1971 and avoided the dreaded Iowa melt we've all come to known. They became another double digit seed to move on and rightfully so.
