James Bond May Have Found It's New Producers In Amy Pascal and David Heyman

Amy Pascal and David Heyman may be enlisted to help Amazon MGM Studios oversee the James Bond franchise, Variety has confirmed. The pair are described as being “in talks.” No deal can be signed, however, until the streamer finalizes its pact to buy creative control from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the producers whose family has overseen all things 007 for decades.

Pascal, the former head of Sony, has reinvented herself as one of the industry’s most successful producers since she left that job in 2015. In addition to producing the “Spider-Man” franchise, she also is involved in such critical hits as “Challengers” and “Little Women.” At Sony, Pascal oversaw the studio’s deal to distribute several Bond films, including “Skyfall,” the highest-grossing movie in the history of the spy series.

Heyman is also familiar with the demands of overseeing a massive franchise like Bond, having played a similar role on the Harry Potter films and its less beloved “Fantastic Beasts” spinoff series. He also produced “Gravity,” a sci-fi blockbuster that won several Oscars, and the “Paddington” films.

ICYMI, The Broccoli family has given up control of James Bond to Amazon after caretaking it since the very beginning of the franchise.

Although I have been campaigning hard for Jonathan Nolan to take over the franchise (and still think that he would be a great fit), this isn't a bad pick either. While Pascal was in charge of Sony, she oversaw all the new Craig-era Bond movies as well as Zero Dark Thirty, Moneyball, The Social Network. Heyman was in charge of both the good and bad of Harry Potter as well as Paddington, I Am Legend, Marriage Story, Barbie and some other solid movies.

I still have a ton of doubts for Amazon being in charge of this franchise because they clearly think spending money = quality which is not the case. However, this wouldn't be a bad movie and, if combined with a great pick for Bond, it could get me on board with the move.

Who should it be? How about you guys decide.
