17 Year Old Russian Tennis Star Mirra Andreeva Accuses American Amanda Anisimova Of Gamesmanship For Addressing Her Blister During a Game - Anisimova Trolls Her After The Match With The Finger

We've got ourselves a little tennis drama on our hands. I know March Madness dominated headlines over the weekend, but I'm ready to talk about literally anything else after having my #ExperianBusters team (Colorado State) rip my heart out last night. So now we focus on the Miami Open where 17 year old Russian cyborg Mirra Andreeva took on American Amanda Anisimova last night in the third round.

The match went the distance with the American pulling off the upset and thus ending Andreeva's beyond impressive 13 match winning streak. The Russian has been unstoppable lately, ripping off back to back Masters 1000 titles in 2025, beating the very best the sport has to offer in the process. Absolutely insane for someone her age. The bid for three in a row, however, was silenced Sunday night.

That did not come without some noise as during the match Anisimova took a medical timeout briefly in the 3rd set at 3-1 40-40 on Andreeva's serve. The Russian did not take too kindly to the stoppage, implying Anisimova was deploying a bit of gamesmanship and in a way icing her during a crucial point in the match.

The tennis world is fairly split here with those in the Andreeva camp believing Anisimova took the timeout in that spot on purpose to freeze her opponent. Anisimova's side believes she tried to play through the blister, but her skin ripped right off. You could actually see the skin hanging off. The physios have this fake skin plaster they can put on your fingers that can temporarily eliminate the blister and allow you to keep playing. Seemed like that's exactly what she needed in the moment and couldn't wait another point. It's worth mentioning the stoppage helped Andreeva gather herself and hold to avoid the double break. So, you're welcome?

After the match Anisimova took to Instagram to share some thoughts on Andreeva's whining. Fair play in my opinion.

SPICY! Regardless of what side you fall on, we need some of this in tennis. Contrary to what the proper, civilized, cordial folks out there say, rivalries are great and hate is good. Let there be a little bad blood in the water between these two. Just some tension the next time they play. They're both young and in the top 20, let's have these two go deep in a slam and face off against one another when it matters most.

I've always been a fan of Amanda's. She was seen as a high level talent when she first broke out on tour, but suddenly lost her dad just a few years on tour. It took a while for her to gather herself and start to be a winning pro again. Safe to say she's 100% back to that elite level now and I couldn't be happier for her.

Never forget when she got trolled online for having "gigantic boobs" by some loser. Imagine being a real person and getting mad about that to the point you DM the person. Insane behavior that should have you stripped of all online privileges.
